Many local authorities who recognised the problems years ago were initially very supportive and funded the installation of hundreds of systems for their nominated contractors, until money ran out. The onus was then placed with the operator as local authorities mandated within the tendering process that school contract vehicles must be equipped with CCTV.

The problems of vandalism, bullying, fighting and abuse have manifested, and the increased threat of false allegations, spurious insurance claims and ‘crash for cash’ have only heightened the need.

Insurance companies are also playing a big part in getting their clients to adopt CCTV and a number of our customers have it written into the terms and conditions of their policy that they cannot put a vehicle on the road unless it is equipped with CCTV.”
